Thank you for stopping in to learn a little more about me. I am an Okie by birth, but grew up in the small Kansas town of Greensburg. My graduating class from high school had 24 members. I graduated from Fort Hays State University with a BSN and worked as a Registered Nurse for 18 years prior to changing careers. All I ever wanted to be was a Nurse as I was growing up; in fact, I may have been the only one to check out the "I Want to be a Nurse" book in the grade school library.
I moved to Hutchinson in 1983 and have been here ever since. I love this community and the people and culture of the area. My husband is a native of Hutchinson and we have raised two children here. We had bought and sold two homes, then built one, when one day I thought I'd like to be a Realtor. I had absolutely no idea exactly what it entailed, but I thought I'd like to try it. My husband said "go for it" and my mother said, "you're too honest." Early signs we have some misconceptions to overcome!
I was licensed in 2000 and have never looked back! I love being an agent, even though my first six months were slow, it's been a great opportunity to be a servant leader in my community. I've always enjoyed problem solving and seem to migrate to leadership roles regardless of the organization or profession. I've served on various boards locally, including the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Reno County, Health E-Quip, Hutchinson/Reno County Chamber of Commerce, Hutchinson Board of Realtors, Prairie Land Board of Realtors and Dillon Credit Union.
I'm also a leadership junkie and have completed Leadership Reno Co., KAR Right Track Leadership and the National Association of Realtors Leadership Academy. All of these have been very valuable to me. One thing I enjoy greatly is mentoring others and "bringing them along" into the leadership and association arena.
