Legislation supported by the National Association of REALTORS® has officially become law: H.R. 2808, the Homebuyers Privacy Protection Act.
The law stops the abusive practice of selling “trigger leads,” which are generated when someone applies for a mortgage and then gets bombarded with unsolicited calls, texts, and emails from competing lenders.
Thanks to bipartisan effort in Congress, homebuyers now have greater control over their personal information—and REALTORS® can point to this as a big win for consumer privacy and transparency.
