Kansas REALTORS® announces the addition of Dr. Stanley D. “Stan” Longhofer to serve as the Kansas REALTORS® Economist. In this role, Dr. Longhofer will provide economic insights, research on Kansas real estate market trends, and expert analysis for Kansas REALTORS®, policymakers, media, and the public.
Dr. Longhofer is professor of Real Estate and Finance in the Barton School of Business at Wichita State University and was the founding director of the Center for Real Estate, where he led housing market research, education, and forecasting initiatives for more than two decades. He is widely recognized for his data-driven analysis of housing and real estate markets at the local, regional, and national levels and is well known among REALTORS® for his housing market forecast presentations and reports.
Dr. Longhofer’s research and commentary have been featured in numerous national and international media outlets, including The Economist, Forbes, USA Today, and The Christian Science Monitor. His work has also appeared in opinion columns for The Washington Post and The Wall Street Journal online. His areas of expertise include housing markets, mortgage lending, residential and commercial real estate, and economic forecasting.
He earned his Bachelor of Business Administration from Wichita State University and his Master of Science and Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Illinois. Prior to his academic career, Dr. Longhofer served as a financial economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland, focusing on mortgage markets, financial contracting, and bankruptcy.
As Kansas REALTORS® Economist, Dr. Longhofer will produce regular economic reports, deliver presentations focused on Kansas housing trends, and support data-informed discussions on issues impacting the real estate industry statewide.
