The Kansas City Regional Association of REALTORS® has introduced a Model Attainable Homeownership Ordinance aimed at helping local communities expand housing opportunities and improve access to homeownership.
The policy framework encourages a wider range of housing options, including missing middle housing such as duplexes and small scale multifamily homes, along with accessory dwelling units that provide flexible and attainable housing choices.
It also focuses on reducing barriers to development by creating clearer approval standards and more predictable timelines. These changes can help lower costs and make it easier to bring new housing to market.
By offering communities a practical blueprint, KCRAR hopes to support housing growth, strengthen neighborhoods, and create more attainable paths to homeownership across the region.
